Day Treatment

OVERVIEW

What is Day Treatment?

A Day Treatment Program, also known as a Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP), is a structured and intensive mental health or substance abuse treatment option that falls between inpatient care and traditional outpatient therapy. In a PHP, individuals receive comprehensive therapeutic services during the day and return home or to a supportive living environment in the evenings.

More about Partial Hospitalization or Day Treatment

Day Treatment at Creo Recovery Center is a comprehensive and innovative program designed to address addiction and mental health challenges while promoting creative expression and holistic recovery. Our Day Treatment program aligns with the American Society of Addiction Medicine (ASAM) level 2.5, which signifies a high level of care with structured therapeutic support. Here’s a detailed breakdown of what you can expect:

Structured Schedule

Our day treatment program offers a structured daily schedule that mimics the structure of inpatient care while allowing you to return home in the evenings. This structured approach helps establish routine and consistency in your recovery journey.

Creative Recovery Studio

At Creo, we recognize the therapeutic value of creative expression. Our on-site Creative Recovery Studio is a unique feature of our program. Here, you’ll have access to various artistic outlets, including music, visual arts, and writing. Under the guidance of experienced art therapists and instructors, you can explore your emotions, process trauma, and develop coping skills through creative means.

Experiential Therapy

In addition to traditional talk therapy, our program incorporates experiential therapies that engage your mind, body, and emotions. These may include activities like mindfulness meditation, yoga, adventure therapy, equine therapy, and more. These experiential approaches can help you gain a deeper understanding of yourself and your addiction while fostering personal growth.

Evidence-Based Practices

Our day treatment program is firmly rooted in evidence-based therapeutic practices. This means we employ therapies and interventions that have been scientifically proven to be effective in treating addiction and mental health issues. These may include cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), motivational enhancement therapy (MET), and more.

Individualized Treatment Plans

Each participant in our program receives an individualized treatment plan tailored to their specific needs and goals. Our experienced clinical team conducts thorough assessments to identify your unique challenges and strengths, ensuring that your treatment is highly personalized.

“Group therapy is a core component of our program, providing you with a supportive community of peers who are also on their recovery journey. Through group sessions, you’ll have opportunities to share experiences, gain insights, and build a network of support.”

Psychoeducation

We believe that knowledge is a powerful tool in recovery. You’ll receive psychoeducation on addiction, mental health, coping strategies, and relapse prevention. This knowledge equips you with the tools to make informed decisions about your recovery.

Medication Management

Our clinical team provides thorough medication management for individuals who require medication as part of their treatment plan. This ensures that medications are administered safely and effectively, helping to stabilize your mental health and support your recovery.

Family Involvement

We understand the importance of family support in recovery. We offer family therapy and education sessions to help your loved ones understand addiction and mental health issues better and provide them with tools to support your recovery.

Continuum of Care

Our Day treatment program is part of a continuum of care, meaning that we provide ongoing support and guidance even after you complete the program. We’ll help you transition to lower levels of care, such as outpatient treatment or aftercare, to ensure a smooth and sustainable recovery journey.

Creo Recovery Center’s day treatment program goes beyond conventional addiction and mental health treatment approaches. We combine evidence-based practices, creative expression, and holistic therapies to provide a comprehensive and individualized path to recovery based on ASAM Level 2.5 standards. Our goal is to empower you to overcome challenges, heal, and rediscover a fulfilling life in sobriety.

What Medications are Used During Day Treatment?

Common Medications in a Substance Abuse Partial Hospitalization Program

Opioid Use Disorder (OUD):

  • Methadone: Methadone is a long-acting opioid agonist that can help reduce cravings and withdrawal symptoms in individuals with OUD. It is often administered in specialized methadone clinics.
  • Buprenorphine: Buprenorphine is a partial opioid agonist that can also alleviate cravings and withdrawal symptoms. It can be prescribed by qualified healthcare providers and may be available in combination with naloxone (Suboxone) to deter misuse.

Alcohol Use Disorder (AUD):

  • Acamprosate: Acamprosate helps reduce alcohol cravings and is often used as part of a comprehensive treatment plan for alcohol addiction.
  • Disulfiram: Disulfiram, when taken, leads to uncomfortable reactions (e.g., nausea, vomiting) when alcohol is consumed. This discourages drinking.

Nicotine Dependence:

  • Nicotine Replacement Therapy (NRT): NRT includes products like nicotine patches, gum, lozenges, inhalers, and nasal sprays. These can help individuals gradually reduce their nicotine intake and manage withdrawal symptoms.

Co-occurring Mental Health Disorders:

  • Antidepressants: If an individual in a PHP has co-occurring depression or another mood disorder, antidepressant medications may be prescribed to address these conditions.
  • Anxiolytics: For individuals with co-occurring anxiety disorders, medications such as benzodiazepines or non-benzodiazepine anxiolytics may be used cautiously under close medical supervision.
  • Antipsychotics: In cases where there are co-occurring psychotic disorders or severe symptoms, antipsychotic medications may be prescribed.

Medications for Withdrawal Management:

  • In some cases, medications such as benzodiazepines or antihypertensives may be prescribed briefly to manage acute withdrawal symptoms, especially during the early stages of treatment.

It’s important to note that medication-assisted treatment (MAT) is an evidence-based approach for opioid and alcohol use disorders, and it is often integrated into PHPs. The choice of medication and its dosage is determined by a healthcare provider and is based on the individual’s specific needs and assessment.

Medications are typically used in combination with counseling, therapy, and other psychosocial interventions as part of a holistic approach to substance abuse treatment. The goal is to address both the physical and psychological aspects of addiction and support individuals on their path to recovery. Medications are always prescribed and managed by qualified healthcare professionals within the PHP to ensure safe and effective treatment.
